Watch Dogs
Watch Dogs is what I believe to be the best thing shown at this years E3 (even though Sony and Nintendo have not gone on yet at the time of writing this.) It’s set in what looks to be a near future setting, in a city where a ctOS (it’s an operating system that controls everything in the city, from street lights to bridges, even trains and cameras. It also collects every bit of data about you. Your health records, marital status, even what kind of “hardcore porn” you watch (Direct quote too).) is being controlled by private corporations.
Not much is known about it outside of the gameplay that was shown, and the back story that was given. From what I saw from the E3 presentation, it looks to be open world and there does seem to be some form of Multiplayer in it.
At the end of the gameplay trailer (which can be seen over at http://watchdogs.ubi.com/watchdogsgame/en-US/home/ (or above) but minus the Multiplayer part) it showed a camera cut away to a different person overlooking what was going on, and they got the mission to protect the first person playing.
When the gameplay ended two people were on stage with controllers instead of one. This game has definitely sparked a ‘Shut up and take my money!’ from both me and Dean. It is unknown when this game comes out, or what consoles it comes out on, but everyone around the net seems to be agreeing on one thing: it looks next-gen. So maybe its running on a yet unannounced console. Maybe it was running on the PS4 , that’s going to be announced soon.
Update from Editor – It’s been confirmed the conference demo was running on a presumably high end PC.
