A week ago, Bioware began dropping teasers for the last of the downloadable content for Mass Effect 2, in the form of screen shots released on social networking site, Facebook. There are only 3 to date and they can be found here. The teasing is over (sort of) and Bioware have now officially announced the Arrival downloadable content and it’s release date.

A deep cover agent is missing in Batarian space, after reporting evidence of an imminent Reaper invasion. Shepard must travel to the edge of the galaxy, rescue the agent, and discover the truth behind the Arrival. Uncover new research and 3 new achievements in this spectacular new adventure for Mass Effect 2.

So, it’s pretty much as was expected, that the DLC would be centred around the imminent Reaper invasion (read: Mass Effect 3) and will no doubt be met with a little disappoint from Mass Effect 2 fans, many of which had hoped for DLC involving either Kaydin or Ashley to wrap up their story. Alas, not to be chums. Here’s to hoping they’ll be in Mass Effect 3 then? I know I have unfinished business with Ashley, personally!

Arrival will cost:

Xbox 360: 560 MS Points
PC: 560 BioWare Points
PS3: $6.99 BioWare Points

In other Mass Effect 2 centric news, Mass Effect 2 has claimed the Best Video Game of the Year award at this years BAFTA awards. Congratulations to the Mass Effect 2 team.
